Leadership Conference 2018

July 27, 2018

The Kappa Sigma Omicron-Pi chapter took on New Orleans this weekend, hoping to learn more about what it means to head a successful chapter at Kappa Sigma’s semi-annual leadership conference.

Brothers Troy Curtis (’16), Mauro Barone (’16), Oscar Levett (’16), Rayhan Memon (’16), Zameer Masjedee (‘12), and Cole Hickman (’17) were all part of the 1800 brothers in attendance from over 400 chapters.

As delegates, the brothers attended workshops which were held on Saturday, focusing on key areas that the Kappa Sigma Fraternity are hoping to improve this year. These included a workshop outlining the new standardized pledging process, a workshop on more successful recruitment, and workshops for the various executive committee roles, which were intended to ready those interested in executive committee positions in the coming year, and to provide answers for questions those already in executive roles had.

With the workshops complete, the brothers sat down to a hearty meal and an awards ceremony filled with Omicron-Pi appearances. A handful of the videos prepared for the conference were filmed and edited by Brother Curtis (’16) and Brother Martin Klemes (‘10), an alumnus of the O-P chapter. They also took over the awards ceremony, with 4 brothers earning awards. Brother Christian Calpito (’16) was officially recognized as a Master of the Ritual, one of only 22 brothers to do so this year. Brother Oliver Nacey (‘14) earned the Outstanding Grand Master award, Brother Martin Klemes (‘10), an Outstanding Alumnus Advisor award, and Brother Troy Curtis (’16) an Outstanding Grand Scribe award.

Omicron-Pi hopes to use the skills and contacts earned from the conference to make this 18-19 year the biggest and most successful year for the chapter to date.
