Carleton, CA - The Kappa Sigma Fraternity at Carleton University is set to participate in the World Partnership Walk in Honor of Arif Merani. This is Canada’s largest annual event to raise awareness and funds to end global poverty.
The money raised by the team will support Aga Khan Foundation Canada, a registered canadian charity that supports social and economic developmental programs in developing countries. This includes but is not limited to economic development programs in Asia and Africa, higher education quality for girls and boys in East Africa, and employment opportunities in Pakistan.
We are walking this year in honor of Arif Menari, who tragically passed away October 15, 2013 en route to Carleton University after being hit by a vehicle. He was set to graduate two months later in December. Like us, Arif was passionate about the plight of abused women and social issues surrounding the abuse of Aboriginal women. Arif had a passion for volunteer work which is why we strive to continue his legacy by participating in the walk.
This year, we are walking as Arif’s Army. Thank you for your time and donations to this cause, we look forward to seeing you June 24, 2018 at the walk!
